Kids Interchurch Baseball League
Posted in Family, Youth on January 30th, 2007 by john – Be the first to commentThe Kids Interchurch Baseball League is in its 15th year of operation for the children and families of Abbotsford . Originally founded at Sevenoaks Alliance Church, the league has grown to over 200 boys and girls in t-ball
and junior teams. Last year, they represented 36 churches in the commmunity and involved 74 children with no church affiliation. The league is designed to teach children baseball in a less competitive, more encouraging, environment where every team and game is covered in prayer before they begin to play. Offering a less demanding schedule but an opportunity to experience a team sport, the league runs only 8 weeks in May and June, on Thursday nights, and practise and play occur on the same evening. The league is entirely run with volunteers. The final week of the season celebrates with a family barbecue at which all the participants receive team pictures, and award ribbons.
The league is made affordable for all children – subsidizing those who are in need. Registration takes place in March and the league is advertised through churches, schools, and local newspapers.
